Buhari support group mobilises for APC’s Nwoye’s governorship bid
Chidoka vows to restore Igbo voice
The Buhari Support Organisation (BS0) in the southeast yesterday said it would work with other interest groups to ensure the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the November 18 Anambra governorship election, Tony Nwoye.
In a congratulatory message in Enugu by its chairman, Anike Nwoga, the group said it has started mobilising for Nwoye to ensure his victory and urged the Anambra electorate to support him.
Also in another statement by Anene Chikezie, the group had claimed that the core APC people in Anambra State were not happy because those who suffered for the party were abandoned, especially from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
However, the candidate of the United Progressives Party (UPP) Osita Chidoka, has assured that he would work towards the restoration of the Igbo voice in the nation’s polity and pursue its ideology of self-determination.
Chidoka, who spoke to journalists shortly after receiving his party’s certificate of return from the National Chairman of the party, Chekwas Okorie, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja said his emergence as the candidate signals a new beginning for the people and the resistance against the relegation of Igbo people.
Chidoka who is the immediate past Minister of Aviation said his emergence “marks the end of an ideologically vacuous and imprudent government that holds no hope for the people while kick-starting a new era where the people can vote for a governor of their choice and not for persons sponsored by godfathers.”
Meanwhile, the Civil Rights Concern (CRC) has commenced campaign for stakeholders aimed at checking the abuse of the electoral process with financial inducements by politicians who end up denying the access to quality service when they assume office.
Addressing the participants yesterday, in Awka, the Director (CRC), Okey Onyeka, urged Anambra people to reject all forms of gratifications during the governorship election. He also charged them to hold public office holders accountable on the use of public resources when they elected into office.
