The Katsina State chapter of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) has said that the security situation in the country has greatly improved in the last two and half years under President Muhammadu Buhari’s watch.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the state coordinator of BSO, Ibrahim Kallah said the “security improvement was encouraging” as lives and properties were being adequately protected.

Kallah said “curbing the incidence of kidnappings across the country including the arrest of kidnap king pins, as well as the decimation of Boko Haram in the North East was something to rejoice about.”

He said there was need to give recognition to the “zeal of the Buhari administration especially in the recovery of 14 local governments and territories previously under Boko Haram control in the North East.”

The organisation’s coordinator, who doubles as spokesman to the state deputy governor, said the “release of over 106 Chibok girls as well as release of more than 16,000 persons in Boko Haram captivity” was also something to give commendation for.

He said “rebuilding the lives of over one million displaced citizens in the North East who have returned to their communities in the last two years or more was a laudable achievement of the Buhari-led administration.”

The BSO coordinator added that, “ensuring continued peace in the Niger Delta through consistent funding of the Federal Government amnesty programme for ex-militants” was a good step that could possibly earn the president a re-election bid.

He said the Buhari administration had restored the morale of the Nigerian military by re-organizing and better equipping them to protect the territorial integrity of the country.

Kallah said the purchase of 12 super-Tucano aircrafts worth £600 million to aid the Nigerian military’s operations in the North East, was one of the wisest decision yet of the present administration.

Similarly, the BSO coordinator said in Buhari’s home state of Katsina, Governor Aminu Bello Masari is emulating the president in the area of improving security and thereby ensuring protection of lives and property.

According to him, the issue of cattle rustling has become history following the surrender and destruction of over 480 weapons, a feat made possible by the amnesty programme initiated by the Masari-led administration.

He also said that the recent kick off of animal tracking devices in Safana council area would go a long way to check rustling and related crimes in the state adding that the organization, in recognition of their exemplary leadership, therefore endorse the re-election of both President Buhari and Governor Masari for another term in office.
