Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South zone have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid.The party’s National Vice Chairman in the zone, Ntufam Hilliard Etta, disclosed this yesterday in a communiqué.He said the decision was taken at the Abuja residence of the former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole.

He explained that the unanimous decision to endorse the president was based on his success in the anti-corruption fight, security, agriculture and economic sectors, which took the country out of recession.

He said the caucus: “Acknowledged the changes in the Nigerian political economy and commended the excellent performance of the President Buhari’s administration and also enjoined Nigerians to continue to support him in every way possible.

“The leaders recognised the successful war against corruption, the effective degradation of Boko Haram, the very laudable agricultural and economic policies. “He touted the continuing high regard for his leadership around the world that have promoted a bright new image for Nigeria, as well as the credibility he continues to enjoy among the vast majority of Nigerians and the APC members.”

Meanwhile, the party yesterday backed the John Ochalla led-executive in Cross Rivers State.A statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, condemned the change in the leadership of the state executive committee. The APC’s position is coming after some party members allegedly took control of the party’s secretariat in Calabar on Friday, February 2, 2018.

The party promised that perpetrators of the “illegality and acts of gross indiscipline causing undue disaffection amongst party faithful” would face the full weight of the law. While promising that the party would resolve all contending issues, he said: “It is imperative to state that our great party has laid down procedures of resolving any internal dispute.”
