Alleged imposition of candidates unsettles PDP faithful in Delta

• Aggrieved Members May Dump Party

Allegations of imposition and other related activities by Delta State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have continued to upset its members, including some candidates who have threatened to dump the party soon.

It was reliably gathered that indigenes of Ndokwa East local government council of the state, alongside four other local councils, have been victims of the alleged imposition of candidates by the party.

Investigation revealed that candidates from Ndokwa East, protested last Thursday the candidacy of one John Governor for council chairman with placards with various inscriptions to express their grievances.

Some of the protesters who spoke to The Guardian on telephone said they protested the alleged imposition because unpopular candidates were chosen by party chieftains in the area, noting that such practices, which were inimical to the development of democracy, would no longer be condoned.

A party chieftain, Madam Cordelia, said Nkechi Enumah-Chukwurah, having proven her worth deserves a second term as a grassroots’ politician, adding that during her first tenure, she executed tangible projects.

Meanwhile, no fewer that forty-two aggrieved members of the party in Isoko North have also alleged the imposition of a chairmanship candidate on them, which they have taken up with the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the state party chairman, Mr. Kingsley Esiso.
