The Action Democratic Party (ADP), Anambra State Chapter has elected Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo as the candidate for the November 18 governorship election in the state, promising to sustain the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

The ADP National Secretary and returning officer in the Governorship Primary election committee, Dr. James Okoroma said Okonkwo polled a total of 1,062 votes of 1,072 votes cast by delegates accredited to emerge the party candidate.

Presenting the party flag to Okonkwo in Awka yesterday, Okornma said direct voting conducted in the three senatorial zones elected the governorship candidate, adding that the exercise was peaceful.

In his acceptance speech, Okonkwo said that Anambra cannot afford to go back to Egypt, and promised to centre his government crusade on anti-corruption/impunity, security, law and order, if voted in.

Also, Hon. Stanley Chigbo Nkwoka has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord party to contest the governorship election in the state. The Governorship primary election committee Chairman, Udo Ijere who announced the result in Awka yesterday, said Nkwoka was elected by affirmation, having scored 105 votes out of the 108 accredited delegates.
