Abians in diaspora task Ikpeazu on governance
Indigenes of Abia resident in the United States and Canada have tasked the state governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to be leader of all irrespective of their political affiliations.
The indigenes made the appeal under the aegis of Abia State National Association of North America USA Inc. ( ASNA ) after the Supreme Court endorsed him on Friday as the duly elected state governor and confirmed him as the duly nominated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 state governorship election.
ASNA said that “as the endorsed holder of the people’s mandate now, you must be magnanimous in victory and be the Governor of all Abians no matter their political affiliations.”
In ASNA’s message jointly signed by Dr. Christian Ike and Chief Ishmael Eneogwe as president and secretary and forwarded to The Guardian, the group further told Ikpeazu, “ having watched you with keen interest in the last 24 months, we have seen your determination and zeal to serve your people and uplift the poor and downtrodden.
“ We therefore urge you to continue in your people-oriented progressive programmes. We call on all the political parties in the state to bring all their progressive ideas and join hands with governor Ikpeazu to make Abia great again. To effect this, ASNA will from North America do its part,” he said.
To Abians at home, ASNA congratulated them on the peaceful resolution of all the electoral issues at the courts without a breakdown of law and order, stressing “this victory is for Abia State.”
