Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar

Sir: Where we are going in this letter-article is not far, but several ports of call along the way. Let me congratulate the former Ghanaian Rev Fr Samuel Deku who, like me, resigned after fifteen years and “set to marry” this month (December 2018). Unlike me, he was born a Catholic. He is quoted as saying, “I still appreciate the Church.” But the Church hardly appreciates any former priest, worldwide. The Church mobilizes social pressure against you, etc. Probably if Deku allows the Church to bless his marriage he may be luckier. Carefulness is wisdom.

Dr Issa Olarongbe Sanusi is among my best Muslim friends. If I call him primus inter pares, it is because one night, my car broke down in the bush-path between University of Ilorin and Take village, and he stopped (in the night!) to ensure I was not stranded. The only point on which I used to disagree with Dr Sanusi was that I regarded him as a fanatical supporter of the former President, General Olusegun Obasanjo (OBJ). But I bow to Dr Sanusi after OBJ’s successors turned out to be worse than OBJ, committing carnage and economic destruction of Nigeria, 2009 till date.

Dr AbdulAzeez Adekilekun is always a balanced-headed and sound-minded political analyst. He did not disagree that the GMB economy is bad. But I disagree with him that GMB is trying to reposition the economy. Why? Yes, since GMB is still bent on defeating Boko Haram and protecting the Fulani herdsmen terrorists. No, Lai Mohammed has no conscience, saying that GMB has fulfilled all the promises made by the All Progressives Congress (APC), notwithstanding the sustained carnage and economic destruction of Nigeria.

Whether Atiku Abubakar says it or not, every right thinking Nigerian can see that security is worse under GMB with Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen terrorists, and armed bandits tugging at the security operatives. Price of fuel and other prices are also mostly thrice higher than GMB met them.

GMB needed not present another budget because all the ones he had presented since 2015 till date had had no impact but worsening inflation and skyrocketing debts. He doubles himself as the Petroleum Minister, increased fuel price from N87 to N145, and he is recovering looted funds without accountability for anything to anybody. Hence Atiku should be supported to seize the broom from GMB and sweep his (GMB’s) footprints like General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida did, so that he (GMB) can retire from politics at 76+, and peace can be pursued for unity, progress and stability of Nigeria. In Kwara state, people are singing, Ó tó gẹ́ (Enough is enough) to carnage and economic destruction of Nigeria. What’s your own take? Whether the legislators expected GMB to bribe them to pass the 2019 budget or not, nobody has any evidence, but GMB himself is unaccountable for anything to anybody, and the economy is transparently much worse than GMB met it.
