Sir: “Mortal Man, Can these bones come back to life? I replied, “Sovereign Lord, only you can answer that”! God said to me, “Mortal Man, prophecy to the wind. Tell the wind that the sovereign Lord commands it to come from every direction, to breathe into these dead bodies, and to bring them back to life”. So I prophesied as I had been told. Breath entered the bodies, and they came to life and stood up. There were enough of them to form an army. Ezekiel 37:3, 9-10 (Good News Bible). My brother old baoys, I am not a prophet but only one of you that had the rarefortune of drinking from the fountain of knowledge that Anglican Grammar School, Nbawsi obviously was in our time. I’m sounding this way because our school is now in the most deplorable and delapidated condition that require our collective intervention.I want to borrow the words of Chinua Achebe to observe that things hasfallen apart at our once great institution; but i am inspired by theoverwhelming response from you to our mobilization efforts, my brother old boys, to believe that the words of Prophet Ezekiel that the dead bones shall live againwill come true for us. I therefore enjoin us all to stand on the authority of those words like the leaders of the modern state of Israel did in 1948; and ask God to help us raise the dusts of those fallen structure that made us what we are today to give back the much we can to our school in need. Recall how the Lord God established the modern state of Israel by recalling the remnants of the Jews scattered all over the world after the Holocaust and made them to return; and be recognised as a Jewish State in Palestineby their own proclamation on May 14, 1948, under the able leadership of David Ben-Gurion. See The Dawn of Israel by Romesh Ratnesar.

With the benefit of hindsight, I’mled to believe that the Lord is already using the social media like the wind to blow us together from all parts of the world as in that prophecy of Ezekiel; andI pray that the Lord will mightily use the Convention to annoint for us a leader in the mold of David Ben-Gurion to hold us together for greater mighty works. Being the man at the centre of our interactions on our GSNOBA Worldwide Platform, i have come to the realization that we are indeed more than any army;and we can conquer any obstacle. The only obstacle that can hold us down now can only be ourselves. I therefore state that our success or failure begins with the Convention; and I pray that theLord Almighty will give us the wisdom to manage the affairs of the Convention; and bless us with leaders with the zeal and commitment to work for the common good of members of our alumni association; and for the restoration of the glorious days of our school. So, let’s stand up to conquer all delapidation and degrading misfortune; and thereby raise the standard banner of our old school to a height never attained before. If you don’t understand, I put it to you today that the Lord has spared our lives to this day; and He has made us to come from every direction of this wide world; from Umuahia, Aba, USA, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Switzerland, Britain, Canada, Australia, South Africa even from nearer home Nbawsi and other parts of Ngwa land; and indeed from every part of the globe to bringlife back toour school. Together we shall make the dry bones to live again, yes we can, trusting and asking God to help us. That’s the challenge before usas on this task of rebuilding our school; and i dare declare that we are more than conqueror even in seeming impossiblities. Romans 8: 36-37. May God bless and reward us all according to His own standards. Amen!
