Again, on Monday, January 16, 2017, we restated our firm position on the proposed closure of the airport when the Senate of the Federal Republic invited us to appear and give expert opinion on the matter.

Sir: Our attention has been drawn to your Editorial of Monday, January 23, 2017, (page 14, paragraph 6), wherein you asserted that “the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), which also initially opposed the closure but later recanted” its position on the proposed six-week closure of NAIA, Abuja.

For the avoidance of doubt, the society has not changed its stance on the proposed closure of the Abuja airport under reference. Our professional opinion on the matter had been expressed in the press conference the Society convened on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 @NSE HQ, National Engineering Centre, Abuja.

Again, on Monday, January 16, 2017, we restated our firm position on the proposed closure of the airport when the Senate of the Federal Republic invited us to appear and give expert opinion on the matter.

To this end, we request you to correct this error, and re-run it in your next edition. We await your immediate positive response and action.

Otis Anyaeji, president, Nigerian Society of Engineers.
