The concept of Ministers of Peace does sound very interesting.
By the way, I say so because at least four of the Minister-designates are Fellows of a well known professional peacebuilding society – Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) of which, by divine provision, I am the Secretary General. Besides, the chief executives of TETFUND, IPCR, and head of the Federal Government’s Amnesty Programme, are also fellows of SPSP. So, perhaps the coinage “ministers of peace” is not only interesting but apt as an inspiration to do the right thing.
As peace is not only a vision of how things should be but also a desired reality to be lived and felt, so, I suggest that well meaning citizens should now develop or strengthen existing advocacy initiatives to see that the Federal Government actualises the dream for Nigeria to have a ratified and effective NATIONAL PEACE POLICY (NPP). The one we have has remained a draft policy since it was first drafted some 7 years ago (2008)!
A ratified NPP is highly desirable for Nigeria, I believe.
