The world is going through very trying times indeed. It is a period that is stretching most nations and thinking people to their wit’s end. As if to strengthen what I already know, someone sent this to me: “Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia are crushed in the death grip of a triple digit heat wave, dubbed Lucifer. Southern California continues to swelter under triple digit that shows no sign of letting up.”

He continues, alarmed and presumably taking his information he wishes to share with me from headlines in various publications—print or online: “California is on fire; Oregon is on fire; British Columbia is on fire; Alberta is on fire; Montana is on fire; Nova Scotia is on fire; Greece is on fire; Brazil is on fire; Portugal is on fire; Algeria is on fire; Tunisia is on fire; Greenland is on fire, Siberia is on fire; and so is Sakha Republic of Russia.” The headlines may have over dramatized the bush fire in most of these states or countries for the headlines give the impression that it is the whole state or country that is engulfed by fire. However, we can get his drift that there have been catastrophic wild fires in parts of the states and countries in reference. His point is that it does not require much to perceive and see that our world is in trouble.

And he is not done yet: “Texas is under water; India, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh experience record monsoon rains and massive deaths. Sierra Leone and Niger experience massive floods, mudslides, and deaths in thousands. In usually chilly August, the city of San Francisco shatters all-time record of 106 degrees of heat, while it reaches 115 degrees south of the city. Northern California continues to bake in the triple digits. Yellowstone volcano is hit with earthquake swarm of over 2,300 tremors since 15 June this year and 3.3 shaker on 21 August, which was only last month. Earthquake measuring 5.3 rumbles through Idaho, Japan earthquake 6.1 and Mexico earthquake 8.1. There is fear of an imminent Tsunami. Beach lines have receded at least more than 50 metres.

“Hurricanes Harvey and Irma said to be the biggest ever recorded; Jose and Kaita are barreling around the Atlantic with eight more potentially forming. The sender of the information then remarks that from scientific point of view and empirical evidence what the news being disseminated is proving is that our world has never seen anything like this. The earth is crying out and trembling with destruction. It is affecting the world not just one country, the devastation is worldwide.”

From the foregoing, mention has not even been made of perennial drought with the ground cracking. Nor has it been made of man-made catastrophes such as wars in several countries, political conflicts and fatal clashes between protesters and security forces, with attendant destruction and deaths in all these as well as migration in millions. There is also the phenomenon of internally displaced people resulting from the sectarian conflicts. There is economic crisis and dreadful misery in several countries.

For those who may care, all these woes are the purifying waves trumpeting the advent of the World Judgment to awaken us from our deep spiritual slumber and recognition of who we are, our tasks in this world, our smallness as well as our helplessness. When we awaken we then recognize our neglected tasks as the link between this world and the Realm of Light such that drawing from thence we can build this world into a replica of paradise, thus fulfilling our daily vow: “Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…” Right now our earth has been turned into a jungle, not what the Almighty Creator desired in permitting us to inhabit His universe. Until the purification is over in preparation for the Millennium, the promised one thousand years of Kingdom of God on earth, the condition of our world is bound to get worse. There will be intensification and acceleration of events in all parts of the world.

How has humanity come to this sorry and frightening pass? The earth has been thrown out of balance, hence the relentless sweep by the hurricanes, force winds, earthquakes, tornadoes, turbulence in the air, overflowing oceans, rivers and fires to restore balance by the forces which not only built at the command of the Almighty Creator, but maintain and regulate the world, indeed the entire universe. They are also the enforcers of the Laws of Creation also known as Divine Laws or Laws of Nature which bear and manifest the Holy Will of the Most High.

Here are the revealing words of Paul in one of his letters to the Corinthians: “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many), but to us there is but one God, the Father of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” The phrase, “as there be gods many, and lords many,” is instructive. Although the forces in reference are not gods nor lords but the executive servants of God, the Almighty. It was our forbears in different parts of the world who regarded them as gods, goddesses and lords. Their conception began to change as they matured to come to higher recognition. The first race to come to such high recognition according to higher knowledge spreading on earth today were the Jews which was why the Lord, Jesus Christ incarnated in their midst. Even then, alas, they crucified Him and brought an abrupt end to His immeasurably great Work of redemption and salvation for all mankind!!

The forces referred to are elemental beings or nature beings. The knowledge of their existence is worldwide. They were the forces that parted the Red Sea for the Isrealites being led by Moses out of Pharaoh’s bondage to pass. And as soon as they passed the elemental beings returned the waters of the Red Sea such that their traducers pursuing them could not pass. According to accounts, a great many of them drowned in the Sea. As this column pointed out last week, the Greek and Roman mythology recognizes that these beings also have lords and so speaks of Zeus, the ruler of Heavens and the god of the sea, god of the sea meaning nixies, water sprite or mermaids. The reason why the Greeks regard Zeus as the ruler of Heavens is that its activities are connected with justice and every believer is confident that justice comes from Heaven sooner or later. The Roman version is Jupiter. The Greek mythology teaches us that the Heavenly abode of these gods and goddesses is Mount Olympus, and for Teutons, Valhalla.

Consider the knowledge of early people in Nigeria with specific reference to Ibadan many are undoubtedly familiar with, not only is the city set on seven hills to which Professor John Pepper Clark drew our attention, there are also seven trees around which the early people settled. These are Idi-Arere, Idi-Ose, Idi-Ishin, Idi- Ayunre, Idi-Ito, Idi- Obi and Idi-Ape. Idi-Arere is a location where the early settlers converged and held meetings under an Arere (obeche) tree. Idi-Ose is by baobab tree. Their full names are Idi-Igi Arere and Idi-Igi Ose. Igi is tree. As for the seven hills, you have Oke Padre, Oke Bola, Oke Ado, Oke Mapo, Oke Are, Oke Sapati and Oke Mokola.

Hills and mountains are built by elemental beings known as gnomes, and trees are brought about by male elves weaving them through radiations which was why they could point out to the early people the herbs that could be used to heal their ailing bodies and what vegetables to plant and when to plant them and metals to be forged to plant them. They showed them the plant for the supply of what minerals for the bodies, which another species use to form bodies around our souls in our mothers’ wombs. In other words life for man does not begin on earth. We are human spirits. Together with fine wrappings around our spirits we become souls. Thus, after discarding the earthly cloak at death we enter the beyond as souls. Settlements were deliberately sited by mountains or hills by early people for protection by the giant gnomes and for rarified pure air associated with hills, plateau and mountains. Those who settled by the trees knew about clean oxygenated air produced by sylphs, and for protection by male elves. The nixies in charge of rain are regularly appeased through those often referred to as rainmakers to withhold rain, for example, even today when there is an important football match!

Today, man is disconnected from nature and that is the cause of our undoing. We are part of nature and we are expected to swing in nature. The earlier generation got disconnected from nature through condemnation by early missionaries who meant well but were ignorant. They dismissed what the people of the time saw were real as unreal. They condemned their recognition as evil and hallucination, whereas what the missionaries were expected to do was to lead the people from one stage of recognition and development to the other. It is children who have not been corrupted by modern day living who still see the nature beings. Because elves and water spirit deal more with more tangible materials they are denser and are easily seen. The children talk to them and play with them regarding them as their friends. In some cases their mothers, products of today’s modern living, shout them down. If the innocent children continue talking to them the mothers get worried and begin to run all over the place seeking help. In the process the ability of the children to see and receive guidance from the little nature beings is terminated. The Yorubas of the South-West call the nature beings oro which is significant from the pronunciation as precipitation of the Word, and as Christians know Word is Life and Power. It cannot be surprising therefore that nature beings are small embodiments of the precipitation of life and power.

Are the destructions, deaths and pains justified? Even if man is to blame we must show love, understanding and compassion. We are told in higher knowledge that in such an attitude lies our own protection as well. Because man has destroyed nature’s equilibrium and the earth is sent out of joint the elemental beings—in the case of hurricanes, tidal waves, force winds and landslide—the nixies, sylphs and giant gnomes, all in joint working have the responsibility to generate forms, control, govern and preserve the work of the Lord through them and to restore balance and clear it of abuse and burden to which it has been subjected for ages through our inconsiderate activities, not just in action but also in thoughts and words. There is nothing that does not take on form and like every seed, all activities also being seeds must go through maturation process until harvest stage. We human beings are harvesting the fruits of the consequences of our activities—blocking waterways. There are mindless reclamation and reckless commercial activities.

The world scientists issued a strong warning, The World’s Scientists’ Warning to Humanity, several years ago in which they stated: “Our massive tampering with the world’s interdependent web of life—coupled with the environmental damage inflicted by deforestation, species loss, and climate change—could trigger widespread effect, including collapse of critical biological systems whose interactions and dynamics we only imperfectly understand. No more than one or a few decades remain before the chance to avert the threats we now confront will be lost and the prospects for humanity immeasurably diminished.”

Because of the attendant catastrophes, hardly do we have the right presence of mind to recognize that without thunderstorms and lightning the electrical balance between the ground and higher atmosphere, the eco-system and all would be disturbed and life on earth would be uninhabitable. Earthquakes are programmed to see to the remodeling of earth surface and building of hills and mountains through new forms while floodings through hurricanes are to engender climatic balance between the polar zone and the tropics. Old and unserviceable trees are sorted and pulled down by hurricanes and force winds so that young trees could come up and flourish or new ones sprout. Soil is enriched through the alluvia soil thrown up by flooding which also refills the depleted water reservoir in the ground and raises moisture level. In other words, painful and horrendous as our experiences may be at every turn of the coming of the hurricanes, floods or earthquakes or fires, the beings in charge are not on destruction mission. They are in fact reformatory agents.

It is we men who would not listen to their entreaties and warnings. And so McKenna says in his immortal words: “Nature is not mute, it is man that is deaf!” How is it, for example, that animals and birds, apart from those caged, are hardly swept away by hurricanes or fires in the bush? They pick the warnings and move to safety well ahead of the imminent disaster. The story of Balaam and how his donkey refused to move on the advice of a being is well known. The being blocked him on his way to forge an alliance with some neighbouring people against the children of Israel. Balaam did not see the being but his ass did and heeded its warning to go back. Upon receiving the warning, the ass refused to move! Apart from blaring the trumpet of judgment of the proverbial End-Time, the hurricanes are more of blessings than a curse!! It is man who must bend if he is not to break!!
