Group seeks more women participation in politics

The founder, Mrs. Saidat Odoffin-Benjamin, disclosed that the group’s main goal is to ensure that all Nigerian women and their wards of voting age receive full political enlightenment and voter education.

She said there is a tide of change around the world with women leading the pack and it is important that Nigeria remains at the forefront.Odoffin-Benjamin said: “We are going out to tell women that if any man gives them a bag of rice to vote for him, they must have a conscience to know that the bag of rice will finish in a month or two. But what about the future of their children? So, we must have the conscience to do what is right. Make the right decision for our children by voting for somebody who will make life better.”

On strategies to achieve the mission, chairman of the group, Mrs. Ngozi Uche-Oji, said: “Since we cannot cover all the 774 local councils in the country, we shall use newspapers, radio stations in our villages, television and the social media. We will also go to market squares, using megaphones, as well as churches, and mosques. We shall drive other women groups to achieve our objectives of total inclusiveness.”
