EEDC is not making sense

Sir: It is like trying to push down breadfruit from a castor oil tree. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, is sending outrageous bills to consumers in Umuoji. They are persuading members of the community to pay theirs over-bloated estimated bills. One wonders what their criterion is for inflating the bills. They have immensely diminished the power supply for the previous months. 

It is difficult to rationalize issues with people who are incapable of good reasoning or criminal-minded possibly. EEDC is expecting consumers to pay the outstanding balance in their bills. Yet they fail to consider that about 90 percent of the time that constituted the bill there was no power supply. 

The best logical thing to do is to wipe out all the outstanding balances. Then set up a base amount every consumer should pay, say about ten thousand naira. Whoever pays that amount should be issued a fresh bill going forward. This payment should be contingent on EEDC assuring the consumer of an improved power supply or supply of prepaid meter.

They should not antagonise consumers who are already seething from lack of power supply with their unrealistic billings. They should try to make sense and not focus on ripping poor consumers off.
