Buhari should stay at home for now

Buhari1IR: The expectation of every Nigerian is for President Muhammadu Buhari to hit the ground running, seeing to the realisation of the promises he made to Nigerians during electioneering campaign.

When some representatives of foreign countries came to congratulate the president on his success at the polls, they came with request from their leaders for him to visit their countries for one bilateral agreement, attending one summit or the other.

We would like our president to shelve some of those requests and face task of rebuilding the comatose institutions he met when he assumed duties.

It’s too early for those countries to be calling on the president to visit when the situation at home needs urgent attention. Nigerians have been passing through hardship inflicted by the past administration, hence he should be allowed some time to put his house in order before any official engagement outside.

We recognise the efforts of our foreign friends in assisting the country to overcome its present challenges, but they should give time for the new government to meet its obligations to the people. We hope the international community would bear with us in this difficult time.

I am really happy that someone has finally spoken out regarding the frequency of PMB’s international trips ever since his inauguration. Thanks a lot, Mr. Bala!
