Zainab needs N925,000 for corrective surgery
A student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Miss Zainab Idris, 20, needs N925,000 for corrective surgery on two legs, according to the Medical Report showed to The Guardian and signed by Dr. Izuagba E.B of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos.
The surgery is to correct the gradual deformity with Ilizarov device and corrective osteotomy (the surgical cutting of a bone, especially to allow realignment).
Her mother, Mrs. Adenike Idris, who came with her to The Guardian yesterday to solicit public support, said the travail began when Zainab was 11 days old.
“My daughter started crying at about 1a.m. that particular night. She could not suck. We went to the hospital and after a series of tests, she was given some drugs. She remained restless and couldn’t sleep. The pains persisted.
“Now, she can neither trek a long distance nor sit for more than two minutes without lifting her legs up. She can’t sleep well. I received a call from her school that I should come and pick my daughter home. That is why I am here.
“The management said she should not be allowed to return to school until she’s fine. The school claims she disturbs the class with her cry. I want Nigerians to help with the cost of the operation”.
Zainab, said: “I am always in pains, especially when I trek to school and return.
“I get bullied because of the way I walk. Children make jest of me. I am done with my ND and I am currently doing my HND. I can’t concentrate because of the pains. Please, I want kind-hearted Nigerians to help me.
