Youths advised to be resilient amidst challenges

Youths have been admonished to lay the foundation of their future in God as a solace towards wading through life’s challenges successfully. This was made known by the president, Place of Refuge Youth Ministry, Mrs. Obiageli Mary Urhoghide, during a seminar with the theme: “Discover Your True Identity,” which took place in Lagos.

Describing youths as vital assets to families and the society at large, who must be properly guided to have a fulfilled future, she said: “We have come to the realization that at this stage of their lives, they have a lot of struggles and challenges confronting them.

“In the midst of these, they want to know why they are here, who they are and where they are going. The truth is that if they are not properly mentored and counseled, the tendency for them to go the wrong direction by joining bad gangs and damn their souls is very rife.”

Urhoghide disclosed that the organization is intervening to bridge this gap by regular fellowships with the youths through interactive sessions, film shows and an annual seminar.

Guest speaker, Pastor Taiwo Akinlami, encouraged the youth not to be concerned about circumstances of life that may paint their future bleak. Using his life story as an example of someone who had no good beginning, he challenged the youths to brace up to the challenges confronting them with the hope of getting to the light at the end of the tunnel.
