ZAMFARA State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, has commended the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega for the success of the general elections, attributing this to the use of card readers.

Yari stated this Friday after receiving his certificate of return as governor for a second term along with 10 members of the National Assembly and 24 members of the State House of Assembly from INEC.

According to him, the card reader ensured that only candidates voted by the electorate were declared winner, unlike previous elections when figures were manipulated.

He said the use of the card reader in accrediting voters disrupted plans by some political parties to rig the election, adding that this new method lead to the landslide victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor, while thanking the electorate for giving him another mandate to lead them for another four years, assured that his administration would not disappoint, as more development projects would be introduced across the state.

Also speaking at the occasion, the INEC commissioner in charge of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, Hajiya Amina Bala Zakari, who presented the certificates reminded the recipients that power belongs to God.

She said the people expects a lot from them at the executive and legislative levels of government.

Those who received their certificates along with the governor includes the state deputy governor- elect, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, three senators-elect; former governor of the state, Senator Ahmad Sani, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, Alhaji Tijjani Yahaya Kaura (former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs), seven members of House of Representatives and 24 members of the State House of Assembly.
