Yabatech students visit The Guardian, want curriculum review to adapt technology to learning

Amid reports of below expectation performance by graduates from Nigeria tertiary institutions, president, Association of Printing Technology and Publishing Students at Yaba College of Technology, Oduwoga Lateef Gbolahan, has advised students to think outside the box and be up to date with the latest technology advancement in the world to enhance their aptitude, learning and experience.

Gbolahan made this call when he led 80 students of the department of Printing Technology, Yaba Tech, to The Guardian as part of the students’ interaction with the ‘practical world.’ He said: “The essence of this visit to The Guardian is to get more insight into our study of discipline, get more practical knowledge, which you have mastered in over 30 years of active publishing.

“Just the way journalism has evolved, printing and publishing is also evolving because the age of manual printing has gone. Now, we are in the age of digital printing, you can now print directly from your phone; design whatever you want from your phone rather than going to a graphic artist. There are so many apps on designing that can be downloaded and once done, send it to the printer; you can even stay at home and the work will be delivered at your doorsteps.“My advice to students is to go beyond the classroom and try everything possible to be abreast of latest development technology in your field,” he added.
