World Bank earmarks $5m for water projects in Katsina State
The World Bank has set aside $5 million, an equivalent of N1.8 billion for execution of 105 water management projects in Katsina State.
Task Team Lead of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), Dr. Amos Abu, stated this yesterday during the project’s launch in the state.
Abu said 20 states have NEWMAP projects currently being executed, explaining they all involve sinking counterpart funding that enables participating states to draw funds for tackling erosion, flood and other environmental challenges.
Speaking, Governor Aminu Masari said government had spent over N6 billion in the last four years to tackle environmental challenges in parts of the state.
