The 2019 Democracy and Governance Assessment Report released by the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) on Kogi State has revealed that only genuine civil servants in the state were owed five months salaries, as at May 2019.

The report noted that full report of the verification exercise revealed that civil servants who failed the verification test are those lamenting non-payment of one to two months salaries.

According to the findings, the verification and screening exercise only swept away ghost workers and unproductive workers in the state civil services. It added that workers without required certificate, falsified fake certificates and many other non-existing names under the pay roll of the state government were screened out.

The report, however, did not state views of workers’ union in the state.
