Women group flays male oppressors over rape, female maltreatment

A non-governmental organisation, Worldwide Organisation of Women (WOW), has condemned the rising ugly rape of under-aged and women, calling for value re-orientation and sustenance of fight against subjugation and maltreatment of women, widows and girl-child.

The South-East Co-ordinator of the organisation, Lady Ethel Eruchalu, who spoke with newsmen in Awka, Anambra State, yesterday, said that harmful and discriminatory traditional practices against women and girl-child were contributory factors to the growing trend and dehumanisation of womenfolk.
