Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun yesterday blamed the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the failure of the state Security Trust Fund.

Abiodun, who spoke at a “thank you meeting” with members of his All Progressives Congress (APC) to appreciate them for their support, especially during the election petition tribunal, attributed the failure to mismanagement on the part of the last administration.

The governor said he had sent a bill for an amendment of the law establishing the trust fund to avoid a repeat of what happened to the fund under the last administration.

Abiodun noted that the previous security trust fund failed under the last administration “because of governance issues.”

He said: “We amended the law that set up our security trust fund to have appropriate governance. We realised that the previous security trust fund failedand we thought we needed to look at that.

“We are determined to make this state safe for ourselves, citizens, visitors, residents and investors. We will not tolerate lawlessness under any guise. We will not tolerate indiscipline and we will not tolerate cultism.”

The governor, who vowed not to interfere in how the fund is being managed, further said: “In the mean time, we have also appointed auditors because it is not a case of me the governor calling on the members of the trust fund to go and buy this and go and buy that.

“The governance is instituted in it so that they are independent, autonomous and take decisions accordingly.
