Why FUOYE embarks on massive infrastructural development — VC

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Kayode Soremekun has said the university management was not embarking on massive infrastructural development to embezzle money, but to reach a 20,000 students population with well-equipped infrastructure. 

Soremekun said before the year runs out, many state-of-the-art facilities would be put in place to complement his plans of accommodating 20,000 students and also providing conducive academic environment for staff.He called on the Federal Government not to relent in its efforts at funding tertiary institutions, especially FUOYE, saying: “education is the bedrock of any meaningful development.”

Soremekun made this known while on inspection of 47 projects in FUOYE’s Oye Ekiti and Ikole Ekiti campuses, with a team from the Federal Ministry of Education and members of the institution’s Governing Council. 

Soremekun announced that FUOYE Radio would commence operation, as soon as the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) approves the frequency and gives total backing for its operation.He urged students to make judicious use of the facilities to succeed as future leaders. 

Representative of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Abdullahi Saliu Jubri, expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural development and academic excellence recorded by the school, which was established in 2011.He said he was not surprised that the university clinched 14th position in the latest rating carried out by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
