We’re not intimidated by court order, says Nasarawa labour unions
Labour unions in Nasarawa State have declared that the court order restraining them from embarking on strike will not stop their members.Representatives of organised labour, made up of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), disclosed this in Lafia, the state capital.State chairman of the TUC, Danladi Namu, said the Federal Government, which instituted the suit does not also obey court orders.
He disclosed: “We have not been served with any notice of court order, so we are waiting for the final directive from our national headquarters. Our people are ably ready to give the government a show down, if it remains adamant.”
Also, state chairman of NLC, Adeka Abdullahi restated that there is no going back on the planned nation-wide strike, scheduled to begin today by 12:a.m. Adeka expressed concern about the insincerity of the federal and state government in keeping to the agreement they signed on the minimum wage.He promised that his members across the state would be 100 per cent compliant to the decisions of the NLC national headquarters.
