Mimiko splashes cash on Sunshine stars

Sunshine Stars Striker, Dele Olorundare, has described the club’s nervy 2-1 home win against League champions, Enyimba FC, as a desperate need to recover from their poor start to the season.

Paul Aigbogun’s men had only returned from a grueling encounter against Tunisian side, Etoile du Sahel in the CAF Champions League and defeating such an in-form opposition should be able to buoy the Akure Gunners to big things in the league. At least that is how the forward sees it.

The win on Wednesday moved Solomon Ogbeide’s men to 16th on the table.

Meanwhile, for the victory over Enyimba, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has given an unspecified amount of money as reward to Sunshine Stars.

Presenting the money to the players, Club President, Prince John Ola Mafo thanked Mimiko for the kind gesture, while charging the players to continue with the winning spirit and always show commitment on and off the pitch.

Responding,  team captain, Abe Sunday, thanked Mimiko and Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) leadership for the gesture.

Abe promised on behalf of the players to always give their best to achieve the set targets, adding that the kind gesture will go a long way in motivating the players to work harder.
