The Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, has said that he had enough logistics to confront and destroy any straying Boko Haram insurgent that might want to make any part of Plateau a haven.

Gen. Nicholas stated this yesterday when he spoke with The Guardian in his office at the OPSH headquarters in Jos. He said: “We have strategic plans and mobile security on the Plateau especially around the Mahanga area in Barkin Ladi of Jos South Council. We have contacts with the local people there, the traditional rulers and the religious leaders of that group who is the Ardo.

The Commander said they had security synergy with the transport workers and market women, adding that they had appealed to the people to be security conscious, and that when they see any strange face, they should report to the nearest security agency or their security checkpoint.

On whether he had enough logistics with regards to vehicles and officers and men, Nicholas said that those things could never be enough in an operation of this nature. “We have some. The Chief of Defence Staff has given us a large number of what they require. We have so many operations in Nigeria. But it could have never been enough for all of us. But we are managing with what we have.”

Gen. Nicholas stressed that peace has returned to Plateau, giving as example the ongoing Polo Club tournament in the state.
