We expelled 3000 Nigerians, says Camerounian governor

cameroon mapCameroun yesterday said it has expelled more than 3000 Nigerians as part of the fight against Boko Haram.

The action, according to Midjiyawa Bakary, the governor of Cameroon’s Far North region, was to curtail the links established by the Nigeria’s Islamic sect and weed out collaborators.

Authorities also arrested hundreds of Camerounians and Nigerians accused of collaborating with Boko Haram. The officials also deported Nigerians who said they were refugees but were not staying at refugee camps and lacked identification papers.

“We noticed that in the different villages there is a certain population of foreigners and they are hiding behind some Camerounians and hiding those Boko Haram suspects,” Bakary said.
