To ensure a clean environment and contribute to the growth of its host community, Ibis Hotel, Ikeja, in conjunction with its parent company, Accor Hotel, have renovated a roundabout in Toyin Street, Ikeja.

They also constructed drainage system in the area to mark Planet 21 day, an initiative under its social, societal and environmental responsibility initiative.

Linked to sustainable development, planet 21 refers to Agenda 21, the action plan adopted by 173 Heads of State at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

The General Manager of Ibis Hotel, Ikeja, Jean Jadas, who led a team of over 25 staff members of the company to clean Allen Avenue, said “the idea is to celebrate this special day by cleaning Allen Street and have a full renovation of water drainages in our host community and to impact on the environment, where we have our businesses. We also sensitised the people on the needs for cleanliness as part of many action to save the planet. Some of our hotels around the world plant trees, others clean as a means to draw attention of citizens on the need to save their community from environmental hazards.

“We decide to do this because a clean environment promotes good health and a healthy lifestyle.”
