Rather than roll out the drums in a lavish celebration of its 10th anniversary, Propertymart Real Estate Investment Limited took out its partners, clients, workers and residents of its host community in Magodo, Lagos State for a fitness walk and free medical check-up, with the theme: ‘Your health matters, walk everyday.’

Group Managing Director of Palton Morgan Holdings, parent company of Propertymart, Mr. Adeyinka Adesope, urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of exercise so as to live healthy lives. He said: “There is need to sentisise our people about the need to pay attention to their health. Walk is crucial; it helps to reduce medical bills. It has been proven scientifically that people who work out have 50 per cent lower risk of developing colon cancer, it helps the lungs, heart and every part of the body.”

Also, Managing Director of Propertymart, Mr. Deji Fasunwon, harping on the need to take one’s health seriously, said: “In our environment, we are concerned about work and do not take care of our health. We all cherish the affluent life not minding the fact that some organs of our body need to be at their best to make us live longer.

“Life in the hinterland seems to be better than life in the city because they walk long distances, they stay in the sun and sweat but we move from an air-conditioned car to an air-conditioned office and to an air-conditioned house, we don’t understand the fact that there is need to move our bodies from time to time. As our corporate social responsibility, we are emphasizing on the importance of self-care and routine check-up.”
