Vote buying: Party asks EFCC to probe source of money spent in Ekiti

One of the newly registered political parties, Sustainable National Party (SNP), has asked relevant anti-graft agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to investigate sources of money spent on vote buying during the governorship election in Ekiti State.

Speaking yesterday, on the state of the nation, the National Chairman of the party, Kayode Michael Arimoro, also called for probe into what happened to those that were caught paying for votes and those who released such monies.

“We should ask what happened to those caught paying money for votes. Who released the monies used to buy votes? We should ask the same questions we asked when those in power today were in the opposition and were struggling to get into office,” he stated.

Describing the gale of defection across political parties as a show of desperation by self-centred political elite, he urged Nigerians to seek alternative platforms and candidates that would bring fresh ideas into governance.

Arimoro noted that Sustainable National Party (SNP) would provide the credible and much-needed alternative in 2019.

“We will leverage on the labour and youth movements where we play significant roles.To transform Nigeria, we need honest people to participate in politics. We believe that if we reach out and present our vision to those, who are already disappointed with the happenings in the country, we will win elections and change the country for good, ” he said.
