Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) has described the demise of Chief David Dafinone as a huge loss to Nigeria, and the Urhobo in particular.

In a statement by the president-general, Olorogun Moses Taiga, the UPU described Dafinone as a foremost Urhobo son who bestrode the Nigerian professional, business and political spaces at various times for over 50 years.

The union recalled Dafinone’s enormous contributions to the accounting profession, his many businesses, which provided hundreds of jobs, and his political exploits, which peaked when he represented the old Bendel South in the Senate from 1979 to 1983.

It also recalled how he put the Urhobo nation in the Guinness Book of Records as the first family in history to produce the largest number of chartered accountants.
