Umu-Ada Ndigbo presents food to less privileged in Asaba, pay patients’ bills

Determined to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged, a non profit organisation, Umu-Ada Ndigbo in the Diaspora, has presented food items to women from the Southeast and South-South zones of the country, saying the gesture was its way of improving the lots of women. 

Leader of the group, Mrs. Adaozo Nonyelum Grace Agude, said it is made up of mainly Igbo women in the United States, with the vision of Igbo unity through economic empowerment of Igbo women across the states where they are domiciled. 

Presenting the items to the women in Asaba, the Delta State capital, at the conference hall of the Federal Medical Centre, Mrs. Agude said the socio-economic challenges in Nigeria informed the needs to reach out to Igbo women, noting that the Igbo has unique traditions and culture that must preserved for generations yet unborn. 

In addition to the food items, the group also settled the medical bills of three surgical patients in the hospital. In a brief remarks, Dr. Emma Ezulum, the Head of Clinical Services, who represented Atuma, thanked the group for their kind gesture.
