Umara deploys NSCDC agro-rangers, hunters to implement RUGA

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara has deployed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) agro-rangers and hunters to implement Rural Grazing Areas (RUGA) programme in the state.

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara has deployed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) agro-rangers and hunters to implement Rural Grazing Areas (RUGA) programme in the state.

Land for the state’s RUGA, located in Sambisa Forest and its fringes, covers Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Chibok, Damboa and Askira/Uba local councils.He disclosed this when the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, paid a Sallah visit to Government House, Maiduguri.

Umara said the deployment of agro-rangers, vigilantes and hunters would ensure that farmers and herders are protected in their communities.He told the monarch that government would also deploy an Emergency Rapid Response Team (ERRT), comprising security personnel, to protect commuters and rural dwellers against Boko Haram terrorists and bandits.

While commending the governor for implementing government’s policies, El-Kanemi sought effective security measures and demolition of illegal hotels in Maiduguri.
