The United Democratic Party (UDP) yesterday hinted on its plan to reposition the party for future elections, even as it dismissed as untrue, stories making the rounds that it has suspended its governorship candidate in the 2019 general elections in Enugu state, Donatus Obi Ozoemena.

The party stated that there was no going back in her determination to become one of the leading political parties in the country that would win elections.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s secretariat in Enugu, members of the state executive described as false, a report in a national daily that there was crisis in the party and that its guber candidate had been suspended.

Chairman, Disciplinary Committee of the party, Bertrand Agodo, told reporters that the publication was aimed at creating disunity in the party following the new zeal of the members since the conclusion of the elections. Agodo who was flanked by members of the executive described the persons behind the publication as mischief makers who were expelled from the party for series of anti party activities, gross insubordination and financial impropriety.

“It is worthy to note that the leaders of the renegade group, Jideofor Ngene, Sunday Aroh and Richie Onos Obie were all expelled on the 23rd of March 2019 by the disciplinary committee set up by the party.”
