Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has described as untrue, an allegation that he allocated N9.2billion to construct a new government lodge and offices in Lagos.

The governor, who made the denial at the Government House, Uyo, said it was a cheap blackmail by detractors to disparage his administration.

He explained that the actual amount budgeted for the project was N1.2billion and not N9.2billion, as being peddled.

The governor further stated that the planned investment in some property in Lagos was to generate more revenue, adding that some people misinterpreted his good intention.

According to him, most of the assets were inherited from erstwhile Cross River State, when the state was created in 1987, noting that rehabilitating them would generate good returns to the state.

“From the days of Moses, great leaders have always been misconstrued, but God can only give vision to one leader, since there is only one governor at any point in time.
