The Committee set up by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to screen the nine aspirants seeking to fly its flag in the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo State said on Friday that two of the nine aspirants have failed the screening.

The chairman of the screening committee and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who disclosed this to journalists, however, refused to disclose the names of the two aspirants.

He stated that the report of his committee would be formally submitted to the National Working Committee of the party.

According to him, only the NWC can announce the names of those two who failed the screening test.

Dogara said: “Unfortunately, in this case, I’m not happy to report this to you. But that is two people failed the test but that’s not to say that they have been disqualified.

“This is because we don’t have the powers to disqualify anybody.

“There is still the opportunity of redress at the appeal panel, which will sit on Monday. So if any of the two candidates who didn’t pass the screening feel that maybe some kind of miscarriage of justice was done, they will have the opportunity of appeal.”
