Tor Tiv installed fifth Chancellor of Abia State University

Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) at its 26th convocation ceremony held at the weekend, graduated 4, 117 students with 11 in first class category.

Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) at its 26th convocation ceremony held at the weekend, graduated 4, 117 students with 11 in first class category.

Among the graduates was former permanent secretary in the state civil service and many times commissioner and special adviser to past governors, Dr. Chinedu Brown who bagged a PhD in Banking and Finance. 

At the ceremony, the Chairman of Benue State Council of Traditional rulers and Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse was installed as the fifth Chancellor.

Also, retired Nigeria Army Chief of Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika and former Chairman of Abia State traditional rulers council and Ezeukwu Ngwa Ugwu, Eze Dr. Bernard Enweremadu were conferred with honorary doctor of philosophy degrees.

Addressing the convocation, the state governor and Visitor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, commended the Governing Council, Vice Chancellor, senate and other officers for running a smooth academic calendar without disruptions, strikes or issue of non-payment of salaries and allowances.
