Tiv traditional council floats endowment fund for IDPs

The Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC) has opened a Relief Fund Account for spirited individuals and donor agencies to make donations for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State.

The Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC) has opened a Relief Fund Account for spirited individuals and donor agencies to make donations for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting by its secretary, Mr. Shinyi Tyozua and press secretary, Mr. Godwin Ber, in Makurdi.

According to the statement, the account number is 0059779671 and is domiciled with the Union Bank of Nigeria.‘’This account is opened specifically for the people who may find it more convenient to send in cash donations to assist the victims,’’ the statement stated.

It appealed to donor agencies and spirited individuals home and abroad to come to the aid of the victims.The document also called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to send relief materials to assist people that lost their homes, farms and other valuables.

It further urged the Federal Government to take proactive measures against attacks, just as the people were enjoined not to take the law into their hands.

The council commended Governor Samuel Ortom and the State Security Council for steps taken so far to restore sanity. It also commiserated with the affected families.
