National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday led other prominent Nigerians to honour Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola, the late mother of Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, at the third day Fidau prayers in Ilesa.

Alhaja Aregbesola, 84, had died in Ilesa on Tuesday. Other prominent Nigerians who attended the Fidau prayers included the former interim national chairman of APC, Adebisi Akande; former governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; General Alani Akinrinade (rtd.); former Military Administrator of Bauchi State, Col. Theophilus Bamgboye; former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Sola Adeyeye and Ganiyu Solomon.

Others were Prof. Daud Noibi; Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede; Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam and his Lagos State counterpart, Mudasiru Obasa; Chief Judge of Osun, Justice Adepele Ojo and Islamic clerics.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the Owa Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, who were represented, led other traditional rulers to the event.

In his sermon, Mufashir of Osogboland, Maroof Ishola, urged all to live impactful lives, bearing in mind that the end could come any time. He said the late madam Aregbesola, in spite of enjoying immense blessings from God, served Allah with all she had and instilled discipline in her children.

He added that the late Aregbesola would forever be remembered as a community leader, successful businesswoman and a good Muslim. The cleric, who emphasised the need to do good while alive also reminded them of temporariness of life and to be prepared for the inevitable end at any time.

Quoting some relevant verses of the Qur’an, he noted all souls must taste death and return to their creator at an appointed time. Prayers were offered by Islamic clerics for the repose of the soul of the departed.
