Three die in road accident in Ondo, two others in coma

Tragedy struck in Akure, the capital of Ondo State yesterday as a car ran into a stationary truck, killing three persons on the spot while two others are still in coma. 

Tragedy struck in Akure, the capital of Ondo State yesterday as a car ran into a stationary truck, killing three persons on the spot while two others are still in coma. 

According to eyewitnesses, the victims were occupants of the car and all were coming from a nearby nightclub along Oyemekun Road in the early hours of the day when the accident occurred. 

The Guardian gathered that some of the occupants were drunk while one of the three persons that died in the accident was a lady working in the club, whom they gave a lift while going home. Sources revealed that personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps promptly mobilized to the scene to rescue the victims and extricate the vehicle from the truck. 

Confirming the incident, the State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Rotimi Adeleye, noted that the accident happened between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m and the victims were between the age range of 20. He said they have deposited the corpses of those who died at the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, admonishing parents to watch over their children to avoid tragedy.
