There was no election in Ebonyi, say Elechi
Immediate past governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, has said that what took place in the state last year was not an election in the real sense of it, noting that everything was stage-managed and slanted against his preferred candidates with the assistance of federal might and its coercive agencies.
The former governor stated during his first interaction with journalists after the election yesterday at his country home in Etche Alike, Ikwo Council that due to his principled stand against the serial breaches of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) constitution and laid down procedures for the nomination of candidates, some chieftain of the party ganged up against him.
The former governor disclosed even after leaving office, he has not known peace or quiet rest due to the insistence of his political opponents to punish him for his contrition and stance.

If you are a solid politician with substantial followers, no one could have dislodged you so easily. That is the reality of power. You are blinded usually by the grandeur and allure of power when you are there such that you no more care about the pulse of the people. My advice is that you learn to gauge the feelings of your people when at the zenith of power. I have no sympathy for you and your ilks.
We will review and take appropriate action.
