Pledges to uphold ethics, promote nation’s democracy
THE Authority Media and Publications Limited, publishers of The Authority Newspapers has announced the formal roll out of its three titles – The Authority Daily, The Authority on Saturday and The Authority on Sunday.
The organisation promised to protect the nation’s democracy and democratic principles, propagate good governance and rule of law while pursuing quality and excellence in the conduct of its affairs.

The publisher of the newspaper is the CEO of Capital Oil, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba.

Briefing journalists yesterday in Abuja, the Managing Director of the newspaper, Mr. Madu Onuorah, said that the medium is the latest addition to the vibrant Nigerian newspaper market, adding that The Authourity prides itself as a seeker of truth and justice and would not be run as a political mouthpiece but as a successful business entity.

Onuorah stated that the newspaper intends to go beyond the elites to report activities at the grassroots and sections of the society that are grossly under-reported by the mainstream media.

He said, “The newspaper would be all things to all people and protect the interests of all groups. In The Authority, we will aim to reconsider our role as traditional gatekeeper of news and information. Apart from the hard copy, the newspaper is working towards having a robust media presence, and will not cede the ground for anybody. The online content would drive the hard copy content.”

Onuorah added that The Authority has zero tolerance for blackmail and any form of unethical conduct.
