Tension as Olubadan gives minister chieftaincy title

There was heavy presence of security agents, yesterday, as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, installed the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu as the Agbaakin Fiwajoye of Ibadan land at his Popoyemoja Palace, Ibadan.

There was heavy presence of security agents, yesterday, as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, installed the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu as the Agbaakin Fiwajoye of Ibadan land at his Popoyemoja Palace, Ibadan.

Thousands of family members, friends and political associates of the politician graced the peaceful ceremony to honour the recipient.

Shittu, who arrived Olubadan palace in company of his wife and family members in a Black Toyota Land Cruiser, paid homage to the Chiefs in the palace before the installation ceremony.

After being decorated with the traditional Akoko leaves and traditional beads with attached pendant with inscription as “Agbaakin Fiwajoye of Ibadanland”, a visibly elated Chief Shittu expressed appreciation to the Olubadan for the honour bestowed on him.

Ibadan top politician and the Osi Olubadan, High Chief Rahidi Ladoja, who was on hand to honour Shiitu with his presence, also spoke on behalf of Olubadan at the ceremony Ladoja congratulated the newly installed chief.
