A Forty-Five-Old auto mechanic, Gbenga Daramola, was yesterday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N1million from a former Lagos State Commissioner, Dr. Leke Pitan ‎under pretence.

The prosecutor, Corporal Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N1million from one Dr. Leke Pitan under the pretence of repairing his ‎Mercedes Benz S600 with Registration Number EPE 800 DU.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a three -count charge bordering on fraud, obtaining, conversion ‎and stealing preferred against him by the police.

He also said that the defendant converted the said sum to his personal use.

Osuji further alleged that the defendant intentionally damaged the brain box of the Mercedes Benz S600 and the side mirrors valued at ‎N200,000.

According to the prosecutor, the offences committed are punishable under sections 312 (2), 285 and 337 (7)‎ of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Consequently, Magistrate (Mrs.) O Kusanu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties each in like sum.

She said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation, show evidence of tax payment and their addresses verified.

The case was, however, adjourned till ‎ April 26, 2016.
