The teachers of Halifield Schools, Mende-Maryland, Lagos State, have added their voice to the call on government to equip the educational sector by providing modern facilities across public and private schools to improve the learning process and also attract foreign students.

This was disclosed during a visit by the school to the head-office of The Guardian newspaper, Rutam House, Lagos.

The teachers, who led 46 students on an excursion, said the purpose of their visit was to expose the children to other learning processes outside the classroom, by getting a hands-on view of newspaper production.

According to Mr. Abass Morayo, the Upper Elementary Coordinator, who lamented the substandard level of education in the country, the government should institute training programme for teachers and also encourage them to be more productive by paying their salaries as at when due for them to be motivated to train the next generation of leaders.

Morayo also noted that government should equip school with facilities that will ensure ease of learning especially in public schools.

“You will find out that most public schools lack adequate facilities, and those that have are outdated and can’t be compared to most private schools,” he said.
