The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) yesterday lamented the vandalism of its facilities by suspected criminals as one of the challenges militating against its activities.

The General Manager of the company, Victor Adewunmi said this when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Government House in Benin City.

Obaseki said his administration would take advantage of its connectivity to nine power stations to boost power supply and industrialise the state.

Adewunmi stressed that the major challenge facing the company was the vandalism of its electricity infrastructure by indigent youths and urged the communities to protect electricity facilities in their domains.

He urged the governor to take advantage of the power transmission infrastructure and the presence of the company to boost electricity supply in the state.

The governor described electricity as a key component in government’s industrialisation drive and urged the TCN to work towards the timely installation of its facility at Auchi to enhance the take-off of the state’s fertilizer blending plant.

He added that the state government would enforce the law to checkmate the activities of vandals of electricity facilities across the state.

He described the visit as an opportunity for the state government and the company to reach a compromise and assured that information provided by the TCN would enable the government to realise its goal in electricity generation and supply.
