Election into the positions of Local Council Chairmen and ward Counselors will be conducted today in the entire local councils of Taraba State. The election, which was earlier slated for the February 11, according to the chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission  (SIEC) Chief Philip Duwe, was postponed to today as a result of late arrival of election sensitive materials.

The election, if successfully conducted, is expected to produce substantive council chairmen as well as Counselors in the entire one hundred and sixty eight wards of the state.

Campaign for the election as observed by The Guardian got to the peak yesterday, as leadership of all the register political parties went into the nooks and crannies of the councils canvassing for votes.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku was not left behind, as he led his People Democratic Party (PDP) campaign team canvassing for votes for all the aspirants in his senatorial districts.
