Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi

The National council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) has cautioned that tackling Nigeria’s problems must be now or never.

The royal fathers declared this in Port Harcourt at the 9th General Assembly of the body.

According to them, there is an urgent need to right the wrongs in the country without political sentiments otherwise the nation may burst. The royal fathers expressed worry about how the country was turning into a laughing stock.

The Oluwo of Iwo, in Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, told The Guardian after the indoor meeting at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt, that the country has been walking with its head for too long, instead of its foot.

Akanbi said, the royal fathers were very decisive and determined to correct things now without sentiments.

He added: “Traditional Rulers are the leaders of any nation, we need not to be dragged to the mud, we have decided that Nigeria must change for good and it must be now.”

Similarly, the Emir of Khana in Plateau State, Muazu Muhammed, said it was time for the traditional rulers to take the boo by the horn’

He said they were ready to make any sacrifice to ensure that the country witnesses the desired change.
