‘Sylva’s Past His Undoing’
DIRECTOR-General of Governor Seriake Dickson’s Restoration Campaign Organization, Chief Fred Agedi yesterday alleged that the failure of All Progressive Congress (APC) and its governorship flag bearer, Chief Timipre Sylva, to commence their electioneering campaigns was based on their fear of rejection by Bayelsa people.
But in a swift response, Director of Media and Publicity for the Sylva/Igiri Campaign Organization, Chief Nathan Egba, dismissed the claim as signs of fear and desperation by the incumbent stressing that the official take off of campaign by the APC and its flag bearer is fixed for November 14, 2015.
Agbedi had while speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa contended that though the PDP was not disturbed by the refusal of the APC and its flag bearer to campaign as expected, the past misdeeds of Sylva in office as governor frightens him.
While contending that the APC fielded a candidate that was not electable due to his penchant for violence during his six years rule as governor, Agbedi declared: “I am sure Sylva is afraid of going to these communities for fear of what the reactions of the people will be. In our campaigns, the people have recounted how many people they lost to violent killings during the last administration.”
He noted that being a party of the people, PDP was campaigning every where adding, “we go to the people to campaign. It is our usual way of reaching out to the people to campaign.”
