An agrarian community in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Arigidi-Akoko, has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of a 50-year-old trader by assailants suspected to be ritualists.

The death of the victim, who was simply identified as ‘Iya Dunsi’, has reportedly caused tension in the community due to circumstances surrounding the killing of the palm oil trader on Wednesday night.

The lifeless body of the woman was dumped in the bush, few meters from her residence with her two breasts missing as it was suspected to have been cut-off by her killers for ritual purposes.

Confirming the incident, the Akoko North West Divisional Police Officer, SP Ibitayo Adetanranmi, assured that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be fished out soon. He added that no arrest has been made but investigation has begun towards unraveling those behind the gruesome murder.

It would be recalled that three similar cases occurred late last year at Ikare Akoko involving women with their private parts and breasts removed while, another eight-year-old pupil of Saint George’s Anglican Primary School, Okeagbe-Akoko, was also murdered under similar circumstances.

In another incident, a mother of three, simply known as Toyin, was also found dead mysteriously yesterday morning in Akure, the Ondo State capital in a suspected case of money ritual.

According to an eyewitness, two local pots and some fetish items were found beside her where she died inside her room located at Tipper’s garage, Isikan area of Akure.

The mysterious death, which many suspect was a money ritual plan gone wrong, was said to have caused panic among the residents who trooped into the house to catch a glimpse of the dead woman. The police have since evacuated the body and investigation into the matter underway.
